Granite is an igneous rock, formed from solidified magma (molten rock) from the earth’s core. Granite is heat resistant, but extreme heat can cause cracking or pitting (pieces of stone coming out) due to thermal shock. Therefore we recommend not placing very hot items directly on to granite surfaces. Granite is also scratch resistant, but not entirely scratch-proof as heavy objects dragged across its surface can cause damages.

We recommend that you use cleaners specially formulated for natural stone surfaces. Many general purpose cleaners contain acidic and alkaline ingredients, abrasives, ammonia and bleach and can break down sealers and damage the natural stone which is porous without the sealant. We advise you DO NOT use bleach, abrasive cleaners or ammonia on your granite surface as these will etch the surface.
